A drizzly rainy day here, what a nice day to sit inside and pump out a dozen prs cause I have a lot of small things built up over the past few weeks that are just getting knocked out like nobody’s business.

New carousel is working well. I want an even better flow for using it from mobile.

no image placeholders
ask user to pick images, just like insert image, but more designed for a set. Allow user to take a series of images with camera, select multiple from files, from urls.

Pressing list button currently leaves it highlighted and I can’t just start typing.

This was the summer we said “to heck with the homeopathic weeks killers” and turned our weedy lawn to a sparsely grassed lawn. I think some fall weed and feed and we will be looking thick next year.

bike rides #

This was the summer wyatt upgraded from a kids bike to a full 21 speed adult bike, moms bike 😉. He immediately learned how and when to shift it and started doing 12mi (round trip) rides with me to the local coffee shop and back.

This year we did wonka, newsies, and imagine a dragon next weekend. It’s been fun building out a community of friends in the theater community. We were very heavily involved in the set build for all of them. They are so fun to build out and problem solve how to build with what we got. I appreciate being able to build really cool things with someone else’s budget, and actually a not unlimited budget probably makes it better anyways. There’s an art and creativity from having constraints to build with what you got and. Not just anything.

new tools #

Our tools coming up on 16 years old were still working great, but the 12v line just did not have enough oompf to drive 6" lag screws deep across 4x4’s. We had a few times were we couldn’t disassemble set when they were drove through knots.

We ended up with two of the best top of the line drivers that are quieter and more powerful than any other. They work so well at high power jobs. They don’t disrupt practice quite as heavily when we are doing last minute adjustments while the kids are in full dress rehearsal.

A shift is happening from writing tech how to articles to life. There’s always been life here, just a lot less. There is a shift happening with AI and agents that it just does all of the things I had to spend a lot of time to learn and write about on my own. There’s been a lot less tech to write about. In a way it’s hard to formulate thoughts about things in a way to write things down as effectively as I used to at the pace things are moving. At the pace things get built. At the pace everything feels like it changes.

big bike adventure #

Wyatt and I went on a big bike adventure again today. I love these moments with him we have so much fun together. It’s about a 12 mile round trip to go to our favorite coffee shop and back so I make it a reward that we can get something from the shop any time we make that big effort.

9/11 a day to remember. I was 12yo when I first saw the attack. At the time my undeveloped brain was a bit in shock and a bit like stuff like this happens all the time.. maybe because we had things like the Oklahoma City bombing not far before.

It didn’t take long to realize how big this was. How many people it was affecting in that moment. I don’t think anyone was thinking about how this would affect the world in such big ways for the rest of our lives. It spawned wars, changed air travel forever, continues to take the lives of this first responders.

toolpath support in models #

This morning I landed toolpath support for my model viewer app. I did not think this was going to work out nearly as clean as it did. The thumbnails are even coming out pretty good.

rain?? #

Rain was in the potential outlook at school pickup, so I wandered over to the school with an umbrella to wait for Ayla just in case. It did not rain, but I got out of the house and had a nice walk with her anyways. She first asked to join running club, then proceeded to complain that the 5 minute walk home was too much for her legs.

piano adventure!! #

Rhiannon and I went on an adventure to get a piano for the theater this morning. It was a nice ride down to a cool church campus. We meet the kindest gentleman there, probably early 20s, he was gutting out everything they didn’t use so they could build out a new youth center with the proceeds.

It fit!!

We didn’t measure anything before we left. The studio already has one of the same model that is broken. We just looked at it and gave it the ol that’l fit

Theater #

Back at the theater we unloaded the piano, and with less risk to break the old one we cracked it open. And to our lack of surprise we found the key was broken.

models app progress #

The models app is working, I forgot that I had half of these models. Theres so much here that I’ve printed or modeled and just plain forgot about, its nice tobe able to see the thumbnails of everything and attempt to find them.

Showing a walkthrough of my models app, models in the filetree based sidebar have a nice thumbnail, when clicked they open a 3d view that I can manipulate to preview the model.

Work in progress on hosting stl models in my homelab.

Token maxing markata go this morning. I got three resets in the tank so I’m hitting up sol on the hardest problems I’ve been suck on.

Tires are expensive #

I’ve been pushing off getting new tires for the van through the nice weather to stretch them a bit further than recomended, but they are doing fine in the good weather.

Huge set progress #

The imagine a dragon set is coming along so well. Its so rewarding to see hard work that I have put in come together, and even more so the hard work Rhiannon has done. She has probably put in as much as every other volunteer combined. She has spent some long days there cranking away at design and build with Brian.

Look at how amazing this set is turning out so much detail put in by Brian and Rhiannon.

This bar looks so good with the new walls, even if it is cluttered with all teh suff that goes on the shelf in the back.

working on plaindown performance, and things are actually feeling much better as I type, it actually does feel like a huge difference until we hit a huge lag spike. Lag spikes are getting fewer and fewer in between.

current input delay is 65ms longest is 995ms, which is about what I’m feeling. The one spike was about a second, my p50 is 9ms and p95 at 19ms feels very snappy.

The thing we are missing next is templates being ready immediately.
